About Us
Our Mission:
To foster the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self-respect, and promote their participation in and contribution toward all aspects of community life.
At NSSC, we believe every older adult deserves to thrive—no matter their needs, background, or stage of life. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, we’re dedicated to empowering older adults and their families across Chicago’s northern suburbs.
Each year, we connect with nearly 25,000 individuals across 39 communities. From active, independent adults to those navigating greater challenges, our support is tailored, compassionate, and deeply rooted in respect.
Our services are as diverse as the people we serve—ranging from expert social services and dementia care, to counseling, financial guidance, wellness programs, lifelong learning, and meaningful volunteer opportunities. Everything we do is built on helping older adults live with dignity, connection, and purpose.
North Shore Senior Center has worked with older adults and their families since our founding in 1956. The National Institute of Senior Centers and CARF have accredited us as meeting the highest standards for our industry. We also partner with many other organizations, including AgeOptions and the Illinois Department on Aging.
