What is the Paint-A-Thon?
For 39 years, the Community Paint-A-Thon has brought neighbors together to support older adults, veterans, and adults with disabilities with limited resources—providing free exterior home painting at no cost to the homeowner.
How it works
Once home sites are identified, inspected, and approved, a team of volunteers will scrape, prime, and paint each home. Team leaders will complete a required site visit the week before.
Eligibility Requirements
-The home must be owned and occupied by person(s) 60 years of age and older, or with a permanent disability or a veteran, and who are unable to do the painting themselves.
-The home must be a single-family residence, occupied by its owner(s) and in need of paint.
-Only the exterior of the home may be painted.
-The home must not be taller than two stories or exceed 25 feet in height.
-The home must be structurally sound, not in need of major repairs.
-A homeowner or adult family member must be present when a volunteer team is at the home.
-The homeowner is not planning to sell the house within the next two years.
-Property taxes and homeowners’ insurance must be current.
-Household income must be less than $3,750 monthly or $45,000 annually.
-Income is not the only criterion — medical expenses and other special circumstances will be taken into consideration in determining eligibility.
