New Physical Therapy Services Now Available at North Shore Senior Center!

May 04, 2017

Symbria Rehab, our Fitness Center service provider, is now offering outpatient physical therapy services at North Shore Senior Center. The physical therapist is trained in treating conditions that affect seniors, and has years of experience treating this older population.

By offering onsite physical therapy, the Center has eliminated the need for people to go to multiple places for exercise and rehab needs. “Providing physical therapy services is such a benefit to our members on so many levels,” said Katie Morgan, senior program specialist and personal trainer in the Fitness Center. “People are already here either exercising or attending a class or lecture so there’s the convenience factor. There’s also a level of familiarity and trust already established with our staff so folks are comfortable doing rehab here.” In addition, there’s a nice synergy between the

Fitness Center staff and the physical therapist. Personal trainers may notice someone having trouble with range of motion, balance or even in pain and suggest they speak directly with the physical therapist. The physical therapist, in turn, may suggest an exercise program to a client and can make suggestions to the trainers at the Fitness Center.

Therapy sessions include an evaluation and setting physical therapy goals to customer tailor your program with you and your family. Physical therapy goals often include increasing your mobility, aligning bones and joints, lessening pain and overcoming weakness, frequently following surgery or injury.

Private sessions are available by appointment only Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and are held in the Wellness Center, located next to the Fitness Center.
