Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

June 18, 2018

North Shore Senior Center's Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program provides information and assistance for older adults who are raising young children. Operated and overseen by case managers in our Niles Senior & Family Services Office, this program provides seniors with emotional support, parenting education, respite and financial counseling/assistance while they navigate the challenges of raising their grandchildren.

Participants meet monthly at the Levy Senior Center in Evanston. The meetings include a healthy meal and separate activities for the grandchildren, whose parents are absent for many reasons, including incarceration, addiction and mental health issues.

Guest speakers are often invited to address such topics as discipline, promoting educational achievement, teen dating and understanding social media.  To learn more about our Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program, please contact our Niles Senior & Family Services Office at 847.864.3721.
