A Tribute Gift is a donation in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one, extended family member, friend or colleague. These gifts can be processed via our Donate Now option or mailed in using our downloadable Tribute Gifts Donation Form. Notification of these gifts take approximately two weeks to process and send. Go to the Tribute Giving page for more information and to view fiscal year 2015-2016 tribute gifts.

A Recurring Gift is an ongoing financial commitment with a start but no specific end date. The donor can generate a recurring gift online by completing the form provided by PayPal, the organization’s online merchant service provider.

A Matched Gift is a donation from a corporation or business that matches a charitable gift from an employee (or a retiree) of the company at a specific ratio set by the employer, the most common being 1:1. All matching gifts require that the employee (or retiree) completes a matching gift form that is then provided to North Shore Senior Center to confirm the individual’s gift and returned by the Center to the employer.

Publicly Traded Securities (Stock) may be donated to North Shore Senior Center, but please to receive the stock transfer instructions that you will need for your broker.

In-Kind (Non-Cash) Gifts of tangible personal property such as works of art, antiques, collectibles and equipment may also be made, but please contact our Director of Development and Marketing before doing so.

A Bequest or codicil in your will or trust is an easy way to make a deferred gift to North Shore Senior Center.

Life Insurance for which all the premiums have been paid is an ideal way to make a charitable contribution as long as the life insurance policy names North Shore Senior Center as the owner and beneficiary.

Real Estate can be given as appreciated property if held for longer than one year. The donor gets a federal income tax charitable deduction and avoids paying capital gains tax. For further details on giving real estate, see page seven of our Gift Acceptance Guidelines.

Tangible Personal Property such as valuable antiques, works of art, boats, coin collections and other personal property can make a suitable charitable gift.

Retirement Plan Assets from an employee retirement plan, IRA or tax-sheltered annuity can be left to the North Shore Senior Center leavimg your loved ones with less heavily taxed assets.

An IRA is a tax-free way to give to North Shore Senior Center. If the donor is 70 years old or older, they can give up to $100,000 from their IRA without having to pay income taxes on the money. Click here for further details on this tax-free gift.
