Celebrating 60 Years of Service

45th Annual Super Senior Day: May 24

Each year, North Shore Senior Center hosts “Super Senior Day,” which is a day dedicated to honoring senior volunteers in the Chicagoland community. Last year, more than 40 seniors were honored from various nonprofit organizations, including the Skokie Library, the Glenview History Center, Baha’i Community of Wilmette, and the Cancer Wellness Center. Chicagoland organizations are welcome to nominate an outstanding volunteer 60 years of age and older who has not yet been honored by any group in previous Super Senior days.

“In today’s world, older adults take on a very special role,” said Jordan Luhr, executive director of North Shore Senior Center. “Their vast life experience and knowledge coupled with their community involvement are consistent with their individual responsibility in meeting society’s needs. It’s an honor for us to honor them each year.”

Honorees and their guests will be treated to a luncheon served by seventh graders from Saints Faith, Hope & Charity Catholic School in Winnetka, an awards ceremony, and live entertainment.

To nominate a Super Senior, contact Vivian Mitchel at vmitchel@nssc.org or 847.784.6092.

Nominations are due by April 27, 2018.
