#GivingTuesday is a movement of individuals, communities, and organizations around the world to celebrate and encourage giving. The one-day giving event, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, is strategically scheduled just after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which spans the chaos of online shopping. It’s also a time when people begin to focus on holiday and end-of-year giving.
This year, #GivingTuesday will be held on November 28, 2017. Staff from North Shore Senior Center will be in the Atrium collecting donations as well as assisting guests making online donations. The Retirement Research Foundation (RRF) will provide a one-to-one match on donations made on #GivingTuesday (up to $5,000). #GivingTuesday donations will go toward our House of Welcome Adult Day Services, which, from its opening in 1983, has been a place for individuals with memory loss from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias to feel valued, safe and respected.
House of Welcome offers a unique day program of structured, therapeutic, small-group activities in a comfortable, homelike setting. Participants with early as well as more advanced memory loss enjoy meaningful activities and friendships, while caregivers benefit from time on their own.
Last year’s #GivingTuesday raised a total of $14,538. This year, we hope to raise $20,000. We hope you will consider supporting the Center by contributing to #GivingTuesday and helping us achieve our goal.
