North Shore Senior Center Awarded Gold Status for Philanthropic Efforts
North Shore Senior Center is proud to announce that it has received Gold-level status in GuideStar. What is GuideStar? GuideStar’s mission is “to revolutionize philanthropy by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make better decisions, and encourages charitable giving.” GuideStar provides as much information as it can about nonprofits’ missions, legitimacy, reputation, finances, programs, transparency and governance.
North Shore Senior Center Executive Director Jordan Luhr said he’s very proud that the Center has been granted gold status with Guidestar. “In our constant pursuit of excellence, we take our stewardship of our resources very seriously and strive to be a leader in social services and philanthropy. Gold status helps us confirm that we are doing the right things and assures our donors that we can be trusted with their investment in our
work,” he said.
Originally known as Philanthropic Research Inc., GuideStar was created to make charitable giving more efficient by providing accessible nonprofit information. By 2001, GuideStar was known as the nation’s premier nonprofit database, offering information on more than 850,000 organizations. GuideStar has become the nation’s leading research organization on not-for-profit organizations. In 2014, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation committed a $3 million grant to GuideStar to advance its expansion on data innovation, collection and distribution.
By receiving Gold-level status in GuideStar, North Shore Senior Center has demonstrated and secured its position as one of the leading not-for-profits in its field.Back to Blogs
