Golder Distinguished Senior Lecture Series Presents: Geoffrey Baer
Meet Chicago’s very own Geoffrey Baer–American television personality, actor, and producer best known for hosting the 10 That Changed America series, the Chicago By Boat architecture series, and other television programs produced by WTTW for Illinois PBS stations. Geoffrey’s programs offer an enhanced understanding of the history, culture, and people of the Chicago area as well as American architecture. A self-described “theater kid” who began acting in high school, Baer grew up in the Chicago suburbs of Highland Park and Deerfield. He majored in radio/TV/film at Miami of Ohio before getting a master’s in theater at Northwestern University. He joined WTTW as a producer in 1989. He appeared in front of the camera for the first time in 1995 with documentary tour Chicago By Boat. As they say in show biz, the rest is history.
